Why create nitrox with a NitroxMaker™ membrane as opposed to mixing oxygen with air?
Self sufficiency – no reliance on an oxygen supplier for you to supply your customers. Create what you need, when you need it. Remember we offer solutions for land based as well as yacht based operations. You eliminate the need for accessible gas and for the handling and storage of same. You just might also save a lot of money in your operation.
Safety – no need to handle pure O². When producing nitrox mix <40%, there is no special handling or cleaning of gear, fixtures, plumbing, etc. There is no special certification needed for operators. You eliminate a major risk factor and hazzard.

Versatility – addition of a NitroxMaker™ does not affect your ability to pump air. Even with the NMCS installed and inline, the HP compressor can still pump 21% (air) – simply do not turn on the NMCS machine. Air is pulled through the intake snorkel and into the HP compressor.
Quiet – NMCS systems operate at 66-71 dBa. Our machinery won’t interfere with showroom and classroom activities.

Nitrogen Membrane Principals
We proudly use MEDAL membranes, the most advanced in the world, in all Brownie’s NitroxMaker™ systems. Our membranes separate gases by the principle of selective permeation across the membrane walls. The rate of permeation of each gas is determined by its solubility in the membrane material and the rate of diffusion through the molecular free volume in the membrane wall. Gases that exhibit high solubility in the membranes, and gasses that are small in molecular size (oxygen), permeate faster than larger, less soluble gases (nitrogen), which are passed through as waste gas.
The superior performance of MEDAL nitrogen membranes is derived from their high selectivity and high productivity, which are a result of the ability to produce membranes with an extremely thin, defect-free separating layer. The purity of the desired streams can be adjusted by changing the operating conditions.
Brownie’s tunes each membrane for optimal performance for the machine on which it is used. For simplicity of operation, you only need to change the inlet pressure to change the nitrox mix to be fed to the high-pressure compressor.
